Free Confidential STD Testing and Treatment
If you are sexually active, getting STD testing done is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health. Women can get STDs/STIs (sexually transmitted diseases/infections) by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has an STI. Unfortunately, sexually transmitted infections are not rare – the CDC estimates that youth between the ages of 15-24 make up just over 25% of the sexually active population but represent 50% of the 20 million new STIs occurring in the United States each year.
The CDC recommends that those assigned female at birth in the following situations should be tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea every year:
- Those that are pregnant
- Those that are sexually active and younger than 25
- Those who have a new sexual partner
- Those who have multiple sex partners
Most people who are infected with chlamydia and gonorrhea have no symptoms, therefore testing is critical. Our clinics offer those assigned female at birth convenient, free, and confidential STI testing.
Ava Health provides testing for most STI’s, and also provides treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea.* As of this time, we do not provide testing or treatment for UTI’s.
*Ava Health currently only offers STI testing and treatment for those assigned female at birth.

FAQ’s
What is a sexual wellness appointment like?
During your sexual wellness appointment, chlamydia and gonorrhea can be tested using a simple in-clinic vaginal self-swab. Additional tests to check for other STIs are performed by drawing blood.
How quick is an STI test?
Plan on spending between 60 and 90 minutes in our clinic. We will then be able to tell you how long the lab results will take to process.
When should I get tested for STIs? How soon after unprotected sex can I get tested for STIs?
The CDC recommends that those assigned female at birth in the following situations should be tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea every year:
- Those that are pregnant
- Those that are sexually active and younger than 25
- Those who have a new sexual partner
- Those who have multiple sex partners
Each new partner increases your risk of contracting an STI, and presents a risk of spreading any STI you have contracted to another. It is better to be tested and know than not.
The bacteria or virus may not be detectable for a few weeks after the exposure, and we recommend you allow at least 21 days post-exposure before coming in for a test.
HOW LONG DO STI RESULTS TAKE TO RECEIVE?
This depends on how busy the lab is and the type of test we are asking to be run. Our staff will be able to give an estimate when you come in.
DOES Ava Health PERFORM WALK IN STI TESTING?
While we encourage all our STI testing clients to make an appointment prior to testing, there may occasionally be same day availability for walk-in clients. For us to serve you in the best way possible, please call us before coming in.
